• The Department has Institution of Engineers (India) Student Chapterfor which all the students of our Department are student members. The chapter conducts various technical activities like Expert Talks, Technical Visits etc..

Activities under the banner of IE(India) student chapter (Electrical) for Acadamic year 2015-16:

  1. Organized Three day workshop on “Programmable Logic Control ” from 24th September to 26th September 2015. 50 students of EE Dept. and 2 students of EC Dept. participated in the workshop. Mr. Vilas Patil from Hybrid Automation Technologies Belgaum and his teammates handled the Technical secessions.
  2. On 14th August 2015 Alumni- Student Interaction for 5th Semester students was arranged. Mr. Abhijit Badamanji, working as external consultant to G.K.N. Drive Line International, Germany addressed the students on ‘Opportunities in core field in India and abroad’.
  3. Organized seminar sessions on “Project Literature Survey, Execution and Report writing” for final year students of the EE Department on 20th October 2015. Dr. D. R. Joshi and Dr. D. B. Kulkarni addressed the students.
  4. 6th semester students visited Jindal steel works power plant (1200MW) at Ratnagiri in the month of March. Prof. NikhilChitragar and Prof. Ramesh G.B.accompanied the students for the tour.
  5. The Dept. of Electrical and Electronics in association with IE(I) student chapter organized National workshop on “Smart Grid 2015”. The workshop was conducted on 6th and 7th November 2015. C. Vyjayanthi,(National Institute of Technology, Goa,) Dr. Shrikrishna V.Kulkarni, (Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai,)  Mr. J. Venkat,( Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai)  Dr. D. R.Joshi, (Gogte Institute of Technology,Belgaum ) Shri. RajagopalKommuLeader of (General Electric (GE), Energy Managements, DigitalEnergyCentre, ofExcellence (COE), Hyderabad) and Dr. G. Gurunath,(IndianInstituteof Science, Bengaluru) were the resource persons. Delegates from Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa participated in the event.
  6. Organized an expert talk on “Field Theory” for pre-final year students of the department on 7th November 2016. Shrikrishna V.Kulkarni, (Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai) addressed the students.
  7. An expert talk on “Recent Advances in Power Transmission” for final year students and faculties of the department was arranged on 5th February 2016. Dr. Dr. Subba Reddy B. (IISc Bangalore) addressed the gathering.
  8. Organized an expert talk on “Vector Control of Three Phase Induction Motor” for pre-final year students and faculties of the department on 4thApril 2016. Dr. D. S. More (Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli) addressed the gathering.
  9. An alumni-student interaction was held on 5th March 2016. Mr. MayankRanjan, Asst. Manager Sales and Marketing, Cranes Varsity, Bangalore addressed our students on “Carrier in Embedded and IT systems”.
  10. level student activities ‘TESLA 2K16’ we conducted Technical events namely Brain Freezer (i.e. Quiz), Mock Interview, Technical Relay and Paper Presentation. 80 number of students participated in the events.

 

Activities under the banner of IE(India) student chapter (Electrical) for Acadamic year 2013-14 and 2014-15:

  1. An orientation program was organized on 7th and 8th Sept. 2013. In house faculty members, Dr. D.R. Joshi, Dr. D.B. Kulkarni and Prof. S.G. Kulkarni appraised sventh semester students on important issues related to PROJECTS e.g ‘Literature Survey’ ‘Planning and Execution’ and ‘Preparation of Report’.
  2. A technical tour Supa Hydel Power Plant was organized on 21st and 22nd Sept. 2013, for fifth semester (Shift-II) students.
  3. A Two Days Seminar/Workshop on Programmable Logic Circuits(PLC) and Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA), was held on 7th & 8th Feb. 2014 for VIII sem and VI sem students), in association with CRG Engineers from Prolific Systems & Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Bangalore.
  4. An Awareness Programme on MATLAB/SIMULINK was organized on 10th Feb.2014. The Resource Faculty team headed by Mr. Anoop, Manager,Web Soft Apps Bangalore, interacted with students.
  5. An Interactive Session was organized for VI semester students on 14th Feb. 2014, on the topic “Auto Desk Software” as applied to Electrical Engineers.
  6. A technical tour to Varahi Underground Power Plant and Kirloskar Electric Company Mysore was organized on 27th and 28th March 2014 for sixth semester(Shift-I) students.
  7. IE(I) Students Chapter organized an orientation program on 6th Sept. for VII E & E sudents( Regular & Shift-II). Dr. D. R. Joshi., Dr. D.B. Kulkarni & Prof. S. G. Kulkarni delivered expert lectures on Literature Survey, Selection and Guidelines for carrying out innovative projects.The program evoked good response with active Interactions from students.
  8. Student orientation program was organized, where Prof S. B. Halbhavi and Prof. S. G. Kulkarni delivered talks on “Education Ethics”and “Modern Approach to Technical Education” respectively.
  9. D. R. Joshi delivered a seminar on “Selection of Good Project” for final year students on 11th of August to facilitate them to make a right decision.
  10. An Alumni Interaction session was organized for the final year students on 11th of August where Miss. Shraddha Panda, Team lead at Control Components Inc. and Mr. Dhritiman Sharma, System Sales Engineer at Honeywell Automation India Ltd. discussed about “Career in Core Stream” to generate awareness amongst students about life beyond software.
  11. Shri I. T. Patil, T&C Engineer, Mitsubishi Electric – Japan delivered a talk on “Automation in Substations” where he stressed the need to study various engineering courses in depth so as to develop analytical skills and problem solving ability. He specifically stressed on study of Control Systems and elaborated the role of Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) in providing quality power at all instances.
