Visvesvaraya Technical University has recognised Mechanical department as a research centre,where candidates can carry out the research activity which leads to the award of PhD degree from VTU.

Eligibility

Admission is open to the M.Sc.(Engg) programme by Research to all the candidates who have passed BE examinations of VTU or BE / B.Tech. / B.Sc.(Engg.) of any other University recognised by VTU or any other examinations recognised by VTU as equivalent thereto. The candidates must have passed the prescribed qualifying examinations with not less than 50% of the marks in the examinations considered for the award of class.

Admission Procedure

There shall be an Entrance Examination for admission to theses programme. Based on the performance of the Candidates in the entrance examination, marks of the qualifying examinations and performance in the interview, recommendations shall be made for registration.

Scope

These research facilities enhance the knowledge of the individual candidates as well as increase the overall academic standards of an institute.The research work leads to the award of Ph.D degree and thereby enhance candidates qualification. Part time facility avaliable at the institute allows tha candidates to carry out the reasearch work along with their regular academic work.
