Visvesvaraya Technical University has recognised Mechanical department as a research centre,where candidates can carry out the research activity which leads to the award of PhD degree from VTU.

Eligibility

There shall be two categories of candidates registering for Ph.D: Full time: Students who are pursuing research studies on full time basis. Part time: An in-service candidate, either a faculty member working in any Engineering Colleges affiliated to V.T.U. or Engineer working in any public/private sector organization. The candidate shall possess Master’s Degree in Engineering of VTU or any other University, which is recognised by VTU or any Degree which is equivalent thereto to the Master’s Degree in Engineering. The candidate shall have obtained 60% marks in either Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree examinations stipulated for the declaration of class. Candidate with five years experience either in teaching or research subject to provisions of these regulations.

Admission Procedure

There shall be an Entrance Examination for admission to theses programme. Based on the performance of the Candidates in the entrance examination, marks of the qualifying examinations and performance in the interview, recommendations shall be made for registration.

Scope

These research facilities enhance the knowledge of the individual candidates as well as increase the overall academic standards of an institute.The research work leads to the award of Ph.D degree and thereby enhance candidates qualification. Part time facility avaliable at the institute allows tha candidates to carry out the reasearch work along with their regular academic work.
