Karnatak Law Society's, Gogte Institute of Technology, Department of Management Studies & Research (MBA) has organized a two day Management Development Program titled "Leveraging Lean Management Model for Quality excellence in Small and Medium scale industries" from Dec 09- 10, 2011.
The Inauguration function took off with an invocation song sung by Miss. Aditi and Miss. Prachi to invoke the almighty.
Dr. A.S. Deshpande, Principal. GIT welcomed the gathering. In his speech he said that, it has been a tradition of MBA@GIT to conduct MDP's, Certification programs which are of immense importance for the corporate and industrialists. He also said MDP's of this kind are the tools to throw light on value adding lessons, which could bring about a drastic change in the economy. Lean Management a concept which is a blend of Japanese & Western culture is spreading its wings across the world, with special reference to India he said.
Dr. M. M. Munshi, HOD, MBA in his speech presented the brief outline of the MDP and gave a snapshot of the efforts that have been put by the dedicated staff and enthusiastic students of department of MBA, He said that the endeavours of department of MBA have given it a forefront position in the cause of education, consultancy, value additions as vindicated by its CRISIL and CSR ratings. He said that it is a matter of pride to flaunt that department of MBA has been conducting MDP for three years in succession; the institute has taken efforts to address the need of the hour and disseminate crucial knowledge for a worthy cause, he said. He thanked the participants and the entrepreneurs for showing faith towards this MDP.
Mr Balraj Bhat, Chief Manager, TATA Power, the Guest of honour in his speech said that management though a term casually and generally used in routine life is a difficult task to execute. He narrated live examples of Dabbawalas of Mumbai as the lessons of Kaizen and expressed his positive remarks for them. He also said Management course is not static but dynamic, hence it requires continuous acquisition of knowledge to stand a chance in the intense competition era. He shared a live anecdote of business excellence model implemented at TATA Power Ltd which strives for continuous development. He also narrated the story of Jamshedji TATA's spiritual association with Swami Vivekananda which paved way for establishing a steel plant at Jamshedpur. He expressed his confidence on MDP and said it shall be an enlightening experience to everyone connected with it.
Mr Nilesh Arora, the resource person for the two day MDP narrated an encouraging story the essence of which was to change the mindset of the participants, he profoundly appreciated the efforts of MBA@GIT and said it is a commendable achievement to organize a Management Development Program of this order.
Chief Guest of the function Mr S.M.Humbarwadi, Executive Director, Ashok Iron Works, said that he was glad to know that MBA@GIT has taken a constructive step by organizing a MDP which could assist the business concerns in their walks of business, in his speech he expressed the lessons learnt in a span of two days could prove as vital tips to sustain in today's competitive world, where profit is eluding and hunt for it should be on. MDP's are the tools to tread along.
Mr A.G. Kulkarni, Chairman, Karnatak Law Society in his Presidential remarks mentioned that Management is required in all professions to be successful and effective; he praised the Department of MBA for conducting a value adding session like MDP which is more important than just imparting the lessons from syllabus. He urged the participants and the faculty members to avail the benefits accruing from the sessions to be conducted over a period of two days to the fullest extent. Mr Arora was the apt person to disseminate the much need information he said.
