Mr. Anirudh Ravi, student of Mechanical Engg. Department won the “BEST PROJECT of the Year” award for a project on Trash-o-nator.
Waste disposal has been a problem ever since the consumption has increased. This problem is faced not only in India but all around the globe. So I have done a project under LEAD.
The ‘trash-a-nator’ is an oil drum painted with heat resistant paint. It has a capacity of 208 litres or 45-50kg of dry domestic waste. It works on simple chemistry were in harmful lower oxides are converted to their higher oxides.
Example, carbon monoxide, highly polluting gas, is converted to carbon Di oxide.
The above process is done with the help of a blower fitted onto the oil drum. It takes less than two hour to burn the waste completely leaving behind just         7 – 10 % of residue.
This device doesn’t need fuel for burning, only a match box. Thought the blower works on electricity.
The device is been used extensively for past 10 months at Bangalore.
